a weekend full of bike love
Twas a weekend of bike-related fun… On Saturday, 150 people came out and rode in the 3rd annual Supermarket Street Sweep, and ended up collecting circa 2,000 pounds of food for the San Francisco Food Bank. Just before 4pm, Dave rolled in with 586 cans of food on his bike trailer, and 5 minutes later, Jeremiah showed up dragging his comparably-sized haul of food on a trailer a little (ok, a lot) worse for wear. I got sorta lost at the last checkpoint, and ended up finishing 6th on a road bike. Afterwards, at Rickshaw Bagworks, there was much merriment and revelry and prize-giving-away (including ZPG stuff) — and apparently Murphy (in purple) made out with Gary Fisher (in black). The next night, the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition threw its annual Winterfest party, celebrating, among other things, its growth to 10,000 members — making it (still) the largest bike advocacy organization in the country. There were tables of cool bike crafts (including 4 ZPG belts) and walls of rad bike art and so many awesome people around — including Gary Fisher again (wearing a red velvet suit), and Muphy, not making out this time — that, as usual, the night ended way too soon.
